Watch With Spooool #6 – “French Connection II” & “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”

Dry your eyes mate, it’s the last Watch With Spooool of the year. This is because our December podcast will be chock-a-block with end of year lists and recaps.

So as we mentioned on the latest podcast, we caught Friday the 13th Part II as part of the Jameson Cult Film Club special screening. Also last month it was announced that an all female Ghostbusters 3 is in the works and Dumb and Dumber To is out this December. So… what better opportunity to watch some sequels.

As is our want at Spooool, we try and pick films a lot of people may not people have seen. With this in mind, there won’t be any The Godfather Part II or Toy Story 2 here…

Oh and don’t forget to listen in on last month’s Watch With Spooool chat about early Kubrick, it kicks off midway through Pod #23.

1) French Connection 2

IMDB tells us…

Popeye” Doyle travels to Marseille to find Alain Charnier, the drug smuggler who eluded him in New York.

We are all familiar with the iconic car chases from the first instalment. and lets be honest this more than likely won’t live up to them but it still stars Gene Hackman which is promising.

2) National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Up there with the funnier Christmas films and one of Chevy Chases best work as Clark Griswald.

The family have gone around Europe and America so Christmas at home with the family should be a breeze. How wrong you are, idiot. What can go wrong does and in good physical Lampoon tradition – and how many Christmas films have boobs?

Brought up on a diet of films he was too young to be watching by his brothers, all things 80s teens thanks to his sisters and the classics by his folks he's turned into a well-rounded (maybe a little too round) film lover. Only recently discovering North by Northwest, he longs for a train journey with a beautiful blond.
