Nightcrawler

Why? This month’s cover star Jake Gyllenhaal rarely gets the props he deserves. He ends up playing second fiddle far too often – think about the plaudits that came the way to Hugh Jackman in Prisoners or Wahlberg and Ruffalo in Zodiac. It’s not quite that often that I think of a picture as “a Jake Gyllenhaal movie”. That looks set to change with Nightcrawler which, as every bit of PR for the film has told us, sees Jake losing 20lb for the role. Hardly Machinist territory but fair play anyway.

Nigel

Nigel loves stupid films almost as much as he likes clever films. He'll watch anything but is usually drawn to documentaries, North American independent films, Irish cinema and gung-ho, balls-to-the-walls Hollywood blockbusters. Here's what he's been watching.
