Five things we learned this week – July 5th 2014

1) The Commitments is Dublin’s Favourite Film

Well so says DIFFpix. People have been voting from a shortlist and have decided that the film adaptation of the first of Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown trilogy, The Commitments, comes out on top.

To celebrate, the folks at DIFFpix will be hosting a special screening of the film in Smithfield Square this Saturday the 26th of July with music and competitions and an after-party in The Generator Hostel.

You can find out all the event info here with details on how you might pick up a limited number of tickets.

Páraic wanted to be a gangster as far back as he can remember. Brought up on a diet of films he was too young to be watching by his brothers, all things 80s teens thanks to his sisters and the classics by his folks he's turned into a well-rounded (maybe a little too round) film lover. Only recently discovering North by Northwest, he longs for a train journey with a beautiful blond.
