Five things we learned this week – August 29th 2014

1) Richard Attenborough R.I.P

The vast majority of people of our generation will remember the first time we encountered Richard Attenborough was in Jurassic Park.

Those visitors to the site who are older may remember him from The Great Escape or with his Oscar-winning directing turn in Gandhi. So it was a suprise to hear he passed away on Sunday at the age of 90 after suffering from ill health since 2008.

The chaps over at Empire have a nice tribute while you can watch a classic scene from Jurassic park below.

Páraic wanted to be a gangster as far back as he can remember. Brought up on a diet of films he was too young to be watching by his brothers, all things 80s teens thanks to his sisters and the classics by his folks he's turned into a well-rounded (maybe a little too round) film lover. Only recently discovering North by Northwest, he longs for a train journey with a beautiful blond.
