With Jurassic World getting a trailer release and Star Wars and its trailer being in the news, there was even more big sequel news confirmed this week in the form of new Independence Day and Avatar films coming our way.

FOX have given the green light to an Independence Day sequel but it’s unlikely that Will Smith will reprise his role. It’s penciled in for a 2016 release date, but watch this space for updates. Well not this exact space that’d be stupid but watch the site.

Avatar broke cinema five years ago, pulling down the old walls of movie-going and changing its landscape and face for all eternity. Well not quite but it did look pretty. So Cameron has said he is working on the scripts for Avatar 2, 3 and 4. He talked to PR industry movie mag Empire on a break from looking for the necklace from Titanic.

So is 2015 the year of the sequel? Isn’t it every year now?
