4) #TIFF2013

song save your life tiff

Yes it’s that time of year again. July? No, well yes but also TIFF program announcement time as well. Taking place in Toronto, Canada (not Toronto New South Wales, Australia in case you were wondering), TIFF is the biggest film festival in the world. I was lucky to attend in 2010 while visiting co-founder Nigel who himself went a staggering 3 times. So it holds some fond memories for us both. Showing at this year’s festival will be Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Kill Your Darlings (a look at the relationship between Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs), Steve McQueen’s latest offering 12 Years A Slave and Can A Song Save Your Life? (pictured) from Once writer/director John Carney. Páraic

Páraic wanted to be a gangster as far back as he can remember. Brought up on a diet of films he was too young to be watching by his brothers, all things 80s teens thanks to his sisters and the classics by his folks he's turned into a well-rounded (maybe a little too round) film lover. Only recently discovering North by Northwest, he longs for a train journey with a beautiful blond.
