Five things we learned this week – August 9th 2013

1) OneTwoOneTwo

mistaken for strangers

That’s right Dublin’s music documentary festival is back! Organisers Cillian McDonnell and Una Mullally along with the Lighthouse Cinema will be showing the best in music documentaries from October 3rd to 6th. They have managed to secure quite the coup in having the premiere of Mistaken for Strangers (pictured above), Tom Berninger’s documentary on his brother’s band The National. We were lucky enough to catch it at the Galway Film Fleadh (read our review here) and loved it. It’s a sweet, funny and emotional look at the interaction between two brothers touching on universal themes. Tickets can be purchased here.

Páraic wanted to be a gangster as far back as he can remember. Brought up on a diet of films he was too young to be watching by his brothers, all things 80s teens thanks to his sisters and the classics by his folks he's turned into a well-rounded (maybe a little too round) film lover. Only recently discovering North by Northwest, he longs for a train journey with a beautiful blond.
