1) Philip Seymour Hoffmann RIP

psh

It was with a great sense of shock that the world learnt that Philip Seymour Hoffman passed away on Sunday from a suspected drug overdose. The actor had been struggling with addiction recently and was reportedly found with a needle in his arm and up to 70 bags of heroin found in his apartment at his time of death.

Hoffman was a fantastic actor who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Truman Capote back in 2005 and was a force to be reckoned with playing a L Ron Hubbard type character in The Master from 2012 – my film of the year.

The Light House cinema will have a special screening of The Master this Sunday at 3 o’ clock in celebration of Hoffman’s brilliance. You can pick up tickets here and enjoy below one of his scene stealing performances in Charlie Wilson’s War.

Páraic

Páraic wanted to be a gangster as far back as he can remember. Brought up on a diet of films he was too young to be watching by his brothers, all things 80s teens thanks to his sisters and the classics by his folks he's turned into a well-rounded (maybe a little too round) film lover. Only recently discovering North by Northwest, he longs for a train journey with a beautiful blond.
