Five things we learned this week – June 27th 2014

4) Jesus to come again, perhaps?

No, not the man upstairs but John Turturro who played Jesus Quintana in The Big Lebowski back in 1998. He wants to do a spin off film about Lebowski’s bowling foe. Not bad, but then you remember that according to Walter he spent six months in jail for exposing himself to an 8 year old. How do you sell that film? Time will tell as he was merely talking at the Taormina Festival. The main attraction of the festival was to honour Jim Gianopulos who helped make and distribute such films as Avatar, X-Men, Borat, Titanic and Planet of the Apes.

If Turturro can get legal clearance he may direct himself as the Coen Brothers are most definitely out, having said this while doing the promo for Inside Llewyn Davis. Here’s what they’d to say…

John Turturro, who wants it, talks to us incessantly about doing a sequel about his character Jesus. He even has the story worked out, which he’s pitched to us a few times, but I can’t really remember it…No, I don’t see it in our future.

Páraic wanted to be a gangster as far back as he can remember. Brought up on a diet of films he was too young to be watching by his brothers, all things 80s teens thanks to his sisters and the classics by his folks he's turned into a well-rounded (maybe a little too round) film lover. Only recently discovering North by Northwest, he longs for a train journey with a beautiful blond.
