The ICC (International Criminal Court) has confirmed that it will not receive the Covid-19 CPI senators in The Hague, Netherlands, for the delivery of the commission’s final report. “We can confirm that the Cabinet has received a request to receive the report in person.

Considering the level of disclosure that was generated in relation to the planned visit, however, the Cabinet has decided, for the time being, against holding a meeting in person” ICC Prosecutor’s Office.

Covid-19’s CPI senators approved the commission’s final report , last Tuesday night (26), by a 7-4 vote. among them the president Jair Bolsonaro, and two from companies. The report was prepared by Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) and has undergone changes since last week, when the senator made the reading.

The document is a compilation of everything that has been ascertained in the nearly six months of meetings in the Senate, since the opening of the work, on April 27 this year. In addition to the indictment suggestions, the text contains requests for investigation. From the report, inspection bodies will be activated to continue the investigation of possible crimes committed by those mentioned.

Among the main requests for indictment are those made by President Jair Bolsonaro, by the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, by former Minister of Pasta Eduardo Pazuello and by the Minister of Labor and Welfare, Onyx Lorenzoni. The only governor on the list of indictment suggestions is Wilson Lima (PSC), from Amazonas, who was included on Tuesday at the beginning of the session.

Despite the refusal to receive the parliamentarians in person, the Court’s attorney (a position equivalent to that of attorney general for the Federal Supreme Court) promised that he would evaluate the report and take the necessary measures. “We will review the submitted materials properly, in accordance with the Rome Statute and with all independence and impartiality,” he told the report.
